Nina’s Doll

Tamaras-Logo

Hi all!

Sorry I have been off here so much lately, but I have been working on my latest Bride doll! This time the mother of the bride, Nina, ordered one for her daughter. 🙂 Her wedding had already been, so this is going to be an after gift, but WOW! This was one for the record books! My most complex doll so far! But, I’m VERY proud of what I managed to come up with. Here is the picture of the actual Bride:

She was stunning for sure!!

And here is the finished doll I made for her mother:

Nina said she was thrilled with her! I was sooooo happy to hear this! 🙂 I worked on this doll for about four months, so we got to know each other well over those weeks! LOL Sure was a fun project though….She stands apx. 22″ tall, making her one of the tallest ones I have worked with. I loved it actually!!

Here are  some more pics of the process….

This is the picture sent to me of the actual jewelry worn:  jewelry1

I wasn’t sure I would be able to do justice to them, but I gave it a shot and this is what I came up with:

Earring-done-on-closeup  Bracelet-done-worn  I used Swarovsky crystals for most of the stones, but ended up having to use small stones usually used for nail art for the tiniest ones on her bracelet! 🙂 It worked I think!

For the bow on the front of the dress I had my work cut out for me for sure!! It was so detailed and I wasn’t even sure how to begin…this is what it looked like in the picture:1-a-a-nina-dress-close-up-o

                                                And this is my version:Bow-done-best

I think it turned out pretty close!!

After the bow, the shoes were my next big project!  They were soooo detailed, and in miniature, this caused some issues for sure…Here are her real shoes:

And here is what I made:

I loved how they turned out and they are fully working shoes she can take off and on! WOW! So many details and YES! Those are real swarovsky crystals as well!! I used the same on her veil:

There must be over a 1000 stones on her veil alone, each hand set and hot melted on! It sure was worth it though. It matches so close! Love it!

Well….actually the hardest part of the dress was getting all the many layers to hang just right! It sure is a challenge when you are working in miniature! Things don’t always work out the way they would on a full size person! Her gown was one of a kind and made with 100% Silk Taffita! Interesting material! Hadn’t worked with it before, and was surprised at how much it’s texture changed once I ironed the dress!! Love how it worked out!! Anyway, I think I got pretty close on everything!

I was really please how close her features match too! It was too special a wedding not to get perfect!!

This Bride was featured on the show “My Fair Wedding” and her wedding was in Greece in a stunning island church!

Her mother asked if I could make an ornament or something as a commemerative?! I had never been asked for something like that before, but gave it a shot. This is what I came up with on that:

The actual picture of the church I worked from:church-on-the-hill

And the ornament I came up with:

  church-almost-done-side

Now they will have a small reminder of that awesome church! 🙂 Hope they like it! It hangs, after I returned the jute string, so they can use it year round or on special occastions.

Well…I really enjoyed working with Nina, and here is what she had to said when she recieved the doll:

“She’s EXQUSITE!!!  My daughter will go crazy!!!”

“I’ll be back with more orders soon I’m sure!!!!!”

“A pleasure meeting and working with you.  Are a a gifted artist…. Thank god for people like you!!!!”
