Weddings…

Gosh, your day is fast approaching and what do you do now?!? Don’t stress! I can tell ya that much!! LOL You might not have every little tiny detail perfect, but really, no one will care!! Least of all…YOU!! I guarantee you won’t! LOL You probably won’t even remember most of it! All those little butterflies in your tummy will be driving those brain cells in so many different directions, that all you will remember are the major, happy things!! Ask most any bride, and I have no doubt she will have the same story! 🙂 We all want the PERFECT wedding! Let’s face it, we only want to do it once, and we want it to be spectacular!

So, what started all this anyway!?! When did the big WEDDING thing start?! Although we will never know who had the first wedding, it seems to have started in Ancient Egypt and Rome. With Rome even trying to give Women equal rights, although it was great on paper, not so much in reality! Ah well…we still fight! 🙂 And it seems the notion of marriage as a sacrament and not just a contract can be traced to St. Paul who compared the relationship of a husband and wife to that of Christ and his church.  Oh and I have to thank the Troubadours of the Twelfth century for bringing about the notion of ‘romantic’ love, since it apparently didn’t exist until medieval times.  It seems arranged marriages and such were the norm before that.  I much prefer the idea of picking my own husband, thank you very much! 🙂

Whew, and now there are so many different types of weddings all over the globe! Our common ‘White Wedding’ seems to have been inspired back by Queen Victoria. Boy, she sure had a ton of influence back then! 🙂 But, they tend to be divided on whether is was a sign of extravagance that she chose to wear a white gown, or due to the values she held about purity!?! So, I guess the call is yours! Men’s rings were another thing that didn’t show up until the early part of the 20th century. I wonder why? Is it greed?? Or just Men wanting to have something to show as well?!? Wanting a symbol of their love to wear as well? Again, I’d say it’s your call on that one! 🙂 But, then again, not all brides are into the “white” gowns we love so much.  And wow, have they gotten stunning over the last few years! I love all the added bling for sure! 🙂 But, the Kimono’s are still worn often in Japanese culture, and they also tend to still favor the “Tea Ceremony” over there, at least in the more Rural areas of the country. Urban Brides tend to blend that with our western ceremony.  The Tea Ceremony is quite elaborate and interesting, if you would like to look into it further. It is filled with family and friends.

In India, the Sari is used by the Bride and in South India the male garb is called Dhoti.  The Hindu still conduct all or at least part of the ceremony in Sanskrit, which is the language of the Hindu Scriptures. And some of these ceremonies last for days. WOW and I thought all the planning for just the one day was nerve wracking! LOL

Jews have a written ‘Ketabah’ or marriage contract before they wed.  It is formalized before the wedding and specifies the obligations of the husband to the wife and also has specific contingencies in case of divorce! WOW! Well, talk about planning ahead for sure! 🙂 And of course the breaking of the glass at the end of the vows.

Of course the Scottish have the Kilts, and west Africans have the Dashiki. Gosh, I could go on, but I think you get the idea. There are a lot of different customs when it comes to the wedding!

So, when thinking of your own wedding, be open to anything! It’s YOUR day!! You can make of it what you want!! No matter what!! I have been looking around at all the different party favors lately, and am amazed! So many choices! Colors! Ideas!! Go out there and check it out! Pick out something you love, and make it your own! Put a little personality into your special day!! Heck, it’s a party! A celebration!! It should be fun! I think we sometimes forget that in all the planning and such that goes into a wedding! We need to put some of the ‘fun’ back into it for sure!! You don’t want to look back and only remember the pain in the tuckus it was do you?!? You want to look back with smiles and joy at all the good moments!! I would think anyway! So do whatever you have to do to make it as peaceful and easy on yourself as possible!

I have been seeing all those tv shows about the bridezillas, and have been thinking to myself…how sad! That isn’t what it should be about! A wedding should be about the love two people have for each other, and in coming together at that moment, it should be a celebration! Not something just about the bride!! It’s TWO people joining!! Although I can see how there has to be an element of that to it. A bride is a ‘woman’ after all and we do have our little vanities, don’t we girls! LOL We want to be the center of attention and shine! I know I did! But, ladies, please don’t forget the poor groom! It’s his wedding too after all! And you’re in this together, till death do you part! Enjoy it!! Don’t let it become a stressful nightmare to be dreaded! Make it joyful and bright and just ENJOY!!

Well…I hope that helps some anyway! Heck, what do I know anyway! LOL I just make the bride dolls after the fact! I only get to see the smiling face of the bride after all the stress and strain! But, I hope you all will at least try to enjoy that special day as much as possible!! It passes so fast! And in keeping with trying to be of help with that, I have added a couple of places I found that might help you with your planning.

TheKnot.com seems to be a great place to get a lot of info in one place. You might try them. I also found the WeddingChannel.com helpful with a lot of good info in one place.  I liked that the WeddingWire.com had real reviews for you to read, which is a nice addition.  You can also try MyWedding.com.  Also, APracticalWedding.com was nice in that is has a page of “Wedding Graduates”. They have their stories told, so maybe you can avoid similar issues!!? I don’t know for sure if any of these sites can help you, and I don’t have any affiliation with any of them, I have just looked at their pages, and thought they might have some helpful info for you. You can do your own research as well. 🙂

Anyway, I hope that helps some with the planning of your wedding.  I suggest a lonnnnnnnnnng massage at least a day or two before the wedding too! :-)Relax as much as possible so you can really enjoy all the good things you put together! All those sweet memories you will be making between the two of you! It’s the little things, for sure, in life that make it worth living! I wish you all the love and luck in your coming days, and thank you for stopping by.

Also, if you would like to have a One Of a Kind Bride Doll of yourself, or someone you love, or would like more info on them, I hope you will think of me as well. You can visit my website by clicking the picture above or below, or this link:

Just a bit on weddings….

Tamaras-Logo

Hello, Hope your day is going well and you are enjoying your visit here! I wanted to post some about weddings in general today and hope you find something helpful.

I just love weddings, don’t you?!? They are so festive and fun! There is so much that you can do to make your wedding personalized these days! So much more then there used to be. And the internet just adds to the abundance of ideas as well! I love seeing all the new ideas for those extra’s that make it so much better! All the place cards, and party favors; it’s just so exciting! So, thought I would chat about Party Favors today.

I have made several different types for people, as well as friends and family, and of course for my own wedding. I love the champagne flutes especially! I just think they fit with a wedding well! I will use my cousins wedding as one example here…I used mints for her wedding favors. It was so neat! Especially since her colors were red and white! It worked out perfectly! We used the saying “Our love was Mint to be” on the card too along with their names and wedding date! And with all the new papers out there you can make just about anything you like now! Craft stores are full of new and exciting colors and textures! We used a velvet backed red paper, and it looked so rich and sophisticated!! Really lovely! So, we took a few mints, however many will fit into the flutes, then took round cut tulle in red, but you can use any colors you might want, and wrapped it over the top of the flute and closed  it with with a tie of white and red ribbons with the card tied into the ribbon. I used a Heart Punch to punch out the hole for the ribbon, just to add an extra touch of class! It really looked nice! So, then, voila’, we had party favors with a touch of class and personalized just for her day! She loved them! And they looked so cute on the tables! We placed them at each table setting like a real glass! It was adorable! To add a little extra touch, we sprinkled red and white rose petals on each table as well.

I also made each of her table center pieces! For these, I used a round punch bowl type glass for each one. Then bought a round piece of styrofoam for each, and wrapped another piece of that velvet paper over each. I used hot glue to attach them. Be care that the glue doesn’t show though! 🙂 I also hollowed out the bottom of each piece of styrofoam and punched a hole up through the paper to allow for a battery powered light to be strung on each. You want to offset this hole, so it’s not in the center. You want the Ivy (or whatever floral arrangement you use) to hide it. Put the battery pack into the hollowed out hole and pull the sting of lights up through the hole. I then wrapped Ivy around the outside of the area where I was going to place the glass bowl and glued it to the paper covered styrofoam base. I then put in roses and glued them as well. Then I wove the lights around the Ivy and Roses. After that, you just set the glass bowl into the center.  You can then pour in some water or use the water ‘crystals’ like I did. They look like ice, which gave it a great effect with the lights! I then put a big square candle into the middle of each bowl and you have an awesome looking centerpiece for a fraction of the price! It looked amazing! I don’t have any pictures for you. I’m sorry about that. They seemed to have been lost, but perhaps I can have her dig some up! I’m sorry to say they have since divorced, so not sure if there are any in existence! LOL But, we’ll see! 🙂 Will post them if I can get them! But, I hope the explanation is good enough for you to use at least. It was fun and it just gives a more personal experience when you  do it yourself! I think anyway!

Well…I will post more later too. I hope you have a most wonderful day and enjoy all your crafting!! Please let me know if you have any questions as well! Or just say hi! Love hearing from you all. Be happy and if you want to check out my home site, you can always visit me at http://www.tamarastrinkets.com Thanks much to you all. Have a great time in everything you do!

Thanks,

Hi everyone…

Tamaras-Logo

Hi all,

I hope you have at least been browsing around my blog. I wanted to post as much info on each doll example as I could. I wanted it to be more involved than my actual website. I have a couple of example pictures for each doll there, so I wanted to go into detail here for you so you can have as much info as possible when you make a choice on who make’s your keepsake doll. I hope I can give you the best! I like my Bride Dolls to have as much detail as possible so they are lasting treasures of that special day in a womans life! We hope to only do this once, so we want something that will be passed on to generation to generation! Something like a portrait doll will last much longer than a photograph or a video I think! It’s something tangible that can be touched and admired! A small 3D version of the actual thing! I hope I am able to get as close to the actual Bride as possible! You will have to be the judge on that one! But so far, I have only had happy results! 🙂

Well….In the coming weeks, I will be posting more and more. I have just got my new website:  www.tamarastrinkets.com up and running after redesigning the entire thing! WOW What a projoect that turned out to be! LOL I wanted it to be more user friendly and upload faster for the viewer. I also wanted it to match my new business cards better. I think I managed to do both quite well?!? At least I hope so! LOL Please feel free to leave any comments on that as well! I always love to hear from you all! Dolls seem to be such a personal thing and people have so many opinions on them as well! Please feel free to leave yours! 🙂 I will also try to put up some info on weddings in general as well. I know when I got married, it was a mess trying to wade through all the info out there to get anything that was really helpful! I will try and post the things I found that helped the best! If you have any ideas, please share them as well! I’m sure we would love to hear them! We have to help each other for sure! 🙂 And isn’t life more fun that was anyway!?! I think so!

Well…you all have a most enjoyable day and hope you enjoyed your visit here! I hope you will be back often! Again, if you would like to place an order, please feel free to visit the above link and click on the Bride Doll page for more info, or the contact page to be able to fill out a form to get ahold of me directly. Also, you can always reach me at tamarastrinkets@tamarastrinkets.com if you need more immediate info. And as with anything wedding related, please plan ahead! LOL Dolls do take quite a while to make, and being as these are custom, they can take a long time, so the longer I have the better. Most dolls can be finished in 4-6 weeks though. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Have a most wonderful day all and will chat with you all soon.

Thanks,

Tamara 🙂

Custom Bride Dolls by Tamara’s Trinket’s

Here are a few of the custom dolls I have done. I will be adding pages in the coming days, and each Bride will have her own page so I can go into more details on each. But, I wanted to give you some examples now of the work I do. Here are some:

These are just a few, but I wanted you to be able to get a visual idea of what it is I offer. Each bride said they were thrilled with the results and I aim to have many more happy customers in the future as well. I have been in business for over 20 years now and love what I do. Crafts have always been a part of my life, and I love to see the joy it brings as well. It truely is a thrill for me to be a part of making such a person keepsake. Something that will hopefully be cherished for many many years to come. Perhaps passed down from generation to generation?! I think a Custom Bride Doll is so much better then just a picture or video of the big day! This is a realy life 3D keepsake of that special moment!! I think it is extra special! Thanks for stopping by, and please feel free to leave any comments of thoughts as well! Have a most wonderful day!
Thanks,

Tamara
